If you're here from Sew Mama Sew, welcome!! Here is my contribution to the Giveaway Day - a set of 9 fat quarters from thrifted linens. Eight are from IKEA duvet covers in the Rosali line, and the last one (the mostly blue plaid) is from an Eddie Bauer sheet that just happens to match well. All are 100% cotton. If you want to see more pictures of the fabrics, and a little doll quilt made with them, check out one of my earlier posts.
I am giving away TWO sets, so we'll have TWO lucky winners! Sorry, I can't ship internationally (my neighborhood post office doesn't do international, darn them).
To enter, just leave a comment here. I'll draw a number randomly at around 8pm Pacific time on May 31. Any old comment will do. But if you have time, tell me a story about your favorite garage sale or thrift store find - I love to hear them!
I'll start: my most memorable garage sale find was a Timbuk2 messenger bag for my husband (then boyfriend). He had always wanted one, so when I spied one under a table at a garage sale, I was so excited! And it was only $2! The guy selling it said that it had belonged to an ex-roommate, so I assumed that's why he was selling it so cheap. I brought it home, and was proudly showing it off to my husband while I opened it up and looked through all the various pockets. I got to the front pocket, and pulled out a brown paper lunch bag. I stuck my hand in, and pulled out... some rubber tubing... a little plastic baggie with some brownish residue... and a syringe... oh sh*****!! It was drug paraphernalia!!
I have to say, that was definitely the most interesting thing I've ever come across at a garage sale. And yes, we kept the messenger bag. After washing it several times of course! Years later, he's still using it. And I still love garage saling! But I am much more likely to LOOK before I stick my hand in a bag now. :-)

Great fabrics! My favorite garage store find was a bunch of darling little wooden schoolchairs for A DOLLAR each. I bought about 10 of them and now they're all over my house - in my kids' rooms, as a nightstand in the guest room, holding a potted plant. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'd love to chance to win a little bundle of fabric. Thank you for such a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love this fabric, it's beautiful! Your tag sale story is hilarious. Just this past weekend I was excited to find a large collection of cloth napkins for a dollar which I've turned into shorts and tops for my baby girl!
ReplyDeleteI love the palette of those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI followed the link from SMS because you're from Redmond too! Woo, Eastside!
My best yard sale find was huge boxes of all cotton quilting fabric from a woman who'd given up sewing. She was just hoping it went to someone who would appreciate it as much as she did. I did, and got it all for $1 a box. I'm still using it today, and that was years ago!
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are gorgeous. They already inspire me, and they aren't even mine (yet?!)!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite garage sale find was a gorgeous copper bowl embossed with grapes and vines, for only a couple of bucks. It was perfect for my Mediterranean-theme kitchen.

ReplyDeleteMy best ever moment in my favorite thrift store was when the manager said, "Oh--well there's the BACK ROOM with all the BINS of fabric. Did you want to look THERE?" I almost passed out. Love love love thrifted linen.

ReplyDeleteI love those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI found a sheet at a thrift store that made my heart leap with joy. Weird, I know! It's white with big blue roses and it's covering a storage unit in my craft room now and serves as inspiration. :)
I love those fabrics! My whole house is thrifted, but my fave is an old iron sewing table that is sadly stowed away until we have more room.
ReplyDeleteGreat story! I found a perfect wooden doll bed at a thrift store for $1. I sanded, primed and painted it for my niece for Christmas! Her entire gift was gorgeous and under $5!

Love this fabric. Well, have not scored and good thrift fabric, but I did just get to High back wicker chairs with cushions and a wicker coffee table for my backporch for $30 and I was happy about that.
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are beautiful and unfortunately my garage sale find is boring. I had been looking all over for one of those fold up trikes and happened to be on a walk with my kids one Saturday when we walked by a garage sale and I saw one sitting there. Couldn't believe it, I purchased it right away because people were standing around talking about it. I pulled a wagon and held that tricycle all the way back home, i was so happy. We still have it.
ReplyDeleteWowsa- those are beautiful fabrics! Thanks so much for hosting a fabulous giveaway!! :)
ReplyDeleteholy cow! what a find you had! i don't think the garage sales i've been to have been very exciting... i usually get books or vases.
ReplyDeletekeep up the work with project linus. i have quite a few baby/receiving blankets made that i need to send off.
Wow, that is a crazy story. I don't do garage sales often anymore...no time unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! My current favorite yard sale find was a practically wooden glider that they sold me for $20. I really couldn't believe it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely collection of fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a thrift store superstar, but my moms of twins club has a great sale twice a year, and I scored a great double wagon for my kids this spring. They love it!
Liz @ teeny tiny quilts
I love this combination of fabric you put together, what a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am having so much fun reading the comments, and will add one that was definitely memorable--I bought a leather purse at a garage sale a few years ago, and as I was going through it afterwards, could tell there was something in one of the pockets. Was hoping it was a couple of bucks, but instead it turned out to be Polaroids of the previous owner, buck naked and posing in COMPLETELY x rated positions! I was so hysterical with shock (and giggling). My friend and I had to do another slow drive-by past the sale so we could see if the person in the picture was still out there selling, but no luck. DEFINITELY got rid of that purse ASAP! And the moral is, check all pockets before pitching purses!
The best thing I've ever found at a thrift store is a bench that I saw at Target the very same day for 3 times as much! When I opened the box, I saw that one of the pieces was cracked, but it was a piece that was hidden and could easily be fixed with some wood glue. I was so excited!
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering up such a great giveaway- I always look for linens at the stores I go to but never find anything good.
Those are some seriously yummy fabrics! I was lucky to find a Danish Modern armchair at a garage sale for $12! She obviously didn't know what she had. She originally wanted $10, but when she saw how excited I was, upped it to $12, thinking she had asked for too little.
ReplyDeletejosilva3(at)yahoo(dot)com
What adorable fabrics, hmm garage sale story, my old neighbours had a yard sale and had what looked like a nice end table. It was in terrible condition, but I scored it for $25, took it home stripped it down and restored it. Looks terrifc and sits next to my chair to hold all my hand sewing needs.
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are gorgeous! A friend of mine bought a man's ring with a lion head on it for $1 and found out that it was 14k gold...big score!
ReplyDeleteI love girly fabrics! At the moment, my favorite thrifty find is a Double Snap and Go stroller from Craigslist that I got for $30 (these puppies retail for $99 apiece and are only usable for the time your twins are in they carry type car seats)!
ReplyDeleteOooh, my favorite garage sale find is a beautiful teak mid-century modern lounge chair that I got for $8! The pads need to be recovered, so it's waiting in my garage, but I still can't believe my luck!
ReplyDeleteFabulous fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I don't have any good garage sale stories; the sales here generally are terrible. lol.
I'd love to be included in the giveaway tho'. :)
Thanks!

ReplyDeletethanks for entering my giveaway so that I could find you and yours!! you will defiantly be on fav blog list!! I have so many garage sale stories it is hard to decide on the best. Most of my home and lake cottage is decorated with garage sale and thrift store finds. I guess one of my favs is my fire king white with red polka dot bowl I got at a used furniture store. It was in a fondue pot holder with the fondue pot lid sitting on top and was priced at something like $5!! The cheapest I had ever seen one like it was about $50!!!
ReplyDeletegosh, I don't need any more fabric, but those are so lovely! My favorite thrift store finds are old linens--pillow cases, tablecloths (to make stuff from!), tea towels.

My best find was a huge box of fabric scraps of various colors and sizes, all really useable. Since I knew the group with the sale, they gave me the box for free. I made a quilt out of it with half a box left over. Great stuff. Love the fabric and such a great idea. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeletethose are beautiful fabric sets! thanks for offering them! one of my fondest garage sale finds was a opal peach pie plate and matching casserole, the same color as one i have from my grandmother. sadly, it's since broken, but i'm thinking about mosaic-ing a table with it and some other lost causes! thanks!

ReplyDeletestephaniefredrickson at yahoo dot com
so pretty! I would LOVE to win your fabrics. Ava Rose is some of my favorite and this looks similar. My best thrift store find was a solid wood china cabinet for $179. If you saw it, you would understand why its such a great price.
ReplyDeletethose fabrics are absolutely adorable. a patchwork idea is already forming in my head! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Wonderful fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy greatest thrift store find was at a goodwill just a few weeks ago. A vintage playskool cobbler's bench toy. I've been looking for one of those ever since I found out I was having a boy. It was only $2.oo! and it was on a day kid's toys were half off. I got the thing for only a buck! My son hammered on that thing for hours!
Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe best thrift store find I had was an old cast iron White sewing machine exactly like the one my Grandma used to have that I learned on. I was all ready to buy it for $45 whether it worked or not but my husband insisted that I give it a test run. It turns out the power cord was missing so they gave it to me for free! I'm lucky to have a handy guy because he fixed it for me and it works just like I remember!!
so cute! I got a great old pyrex bowl at an antique shop when we went to Omaha this spring. It has brown roosters and such on it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric! My absolutely favorite thrift store find was several yards of vintage fabric with stylized roses on a black background (found at the amazing Goodwill in Fort Collins, Colorado - for some reason, the vintage fabric finds in the mountain West are amazing!) I don't have a photo of it but it is truly gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery nice giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't really go garage-saling, but I do get a lot of clothes for my girls from resale shops - I LOVE getting designer duds for cheap!
I love your fabric combination! I'm not patient enough to shop garage sales, but my mother in law has found some really great stuff, including vintage children's books for my kids. katievarela(at)att(dot)net
ReplyDeleteThose look like fabulous squares! We love the Salvation Army for kids clothes, but nothing that exciting as yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty fabrics!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful those are! My most fantastic find at a garage sale was 3 boxes of denim free when I bought a box of yarn. How cool was that.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric!
ReplyDeleteRecently, at a garage sale, I got two vintage cut crystal light fixtures for $20 (for the pair.) One has been installed in my daughter's reading nook and the other in my laundry room, so I can be fancy while I do the laundry.
I'd love a bundle of fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy best scores recently have been shoes! I found 2 pair of Danskos, hardly worn in my size for under $10, and a pair of Ugg slippers that were new! Sadly, the slippers started coming apart, but I sent them to the company and they sent me 2 new pairs of shoes! Yay!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing I found at a garage sale was a giant basket of embroidery supplies for 25 cents. It had everything and lots of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! You can reach me at http://kitknitty.com.

ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNo great stories, but yours is definitely memorable, unfortunately for you!
ReplyDeleteNot a super story, but I do find fun things to repurpose for the kids. My son's favorite was an old worn out cookie monster shirt that I was able to save the front on and add new sleeves, etc., to create a new t-shirt for him.
Wow..you never know what you'll find at a garage sale. Weird!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, your fabric is lovely!

ReplyDeleteI was the recepient of an old 1800s Singer sewing machine & cabinet named "Mamie" from an elderly lady who decided she liked my friend & I enough to send her Aunt Mamie's beloved machine to a new home with me. She had cancelled a sale of it because she didn't like the guy who was trying to buy it! It has a place of honor in our living room and per her instructions, we call her "Mamie".
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering me in your drawing.
Those fabrics are so cute. My best find was a hot pink tupperware container - use it for everything. seriously, how can you go wrong with hot pink!

ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this giveaway!
My favorite garage sale find was my baker's cabinet. A lady had one old chair out & I was looking for a dining room set, so I asked & she showed me this awesome old oak table & chairs. Then she said she had a baker's cabinet also in her basement. It was AWESOME so I bought both. They wasn't really cheap, but were a darn good price and I absolutely love them.

ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful giveaway! I love going to garage sales and looking at other people's old possessions. One person's trash is another person's treasure!

ReplyDeleteWhat pretty fabrics! I love garage sales so much. A few weeks ago I happened across one where a lady was de-stashing fabric... I got to stuff a grocery bag for $2!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of these fabrics...lots of great ideas for them. As for garage sailing, my Mom is the queen...she scores us the best finds, from scuba equipment, to hardwood flooring to typewriters...all in perfect condition! Brand new stuff - I'm not even kidding!
ReplyDeletejodym7@yahoo.com
Beautiful fabric. My favorite garage sale find was a phone from my hometown when I was a little girl. It was fun to look up the phone numbers and addresses of all of my childhood friends.

ReplyDeleteI need get more fabric and put on my shelf :) I love garage sale. I always look for fabric, craft items, kids things, kitchen things, and more! hehe
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric. My best finds was an estate sail that happened to be on a day that was cold and pouring rain. I found antique oak coat tree, rocking chair and library table. That was over thirty years ago and I still have all three items and use them.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics. My best find was a little rack with my named spelled out ALISSA...not a very common name! Snatched it up for 1.00 yeah me!
ReplyDeleteHAHA, that was a great story. I don't have any really great stories because I don't go garage saling very often (I live in Boston in the city, we just don't have many). But I know my mom and her sister did it all the time when they were pregnant for baby and maternity clothes.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful fabrics!
ReplyDeleteSo many great fabrics! Love your yard sale story.
ReplyDeletemom0ja at yahoo dot com
Hello there, great fabrics! Who doesn't love Ikea! My most exciting, favorite garage sale find was a whole boat load of vintage feed sacks, in great condition! I am using them for a Grandmother's Flower Garden, great and vintage!
ReplyDeleteAlways,
Katy, http://starbound-studios.blogspot.com
great giveaway! Hm - I love garage sales, but I'm not sure I have any fabulous buys or stories. I got 2 white sheets from Goodwill that actually matched though, and along with a charm pack, they turned out to be the best and cheapest living room curtains ever. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteI used to go thrifting for t-shirts all the time in high school. I found a Wendy's "Where's the beef?" t-shirt from their 80's ad compaign. It was so soft and worn in, and the old lady saying "Where's the Beef?" was awesome
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics! I would definitely give them a good home. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors...
ReplyDeleteThe best thing I've gotten at a garage sale was a beautiful sleigh crib when I was PG with my second child and my first wasn't ready to give up his crib.
What a great garage sale story!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite memory was dragging my (until then oh so skeptical!) mother to her first garage sale, and looking on as her eyes got round and wide: we got a sterling silver tea set, dated 1908, for five dollars.
After that, it was all I could do to convince her not to spend every weekend roaming for deal!
Thank you for giving me a chance to enter.

Those are incredible fabrics! You have such lovely taste! I love the treasure hunting aspect of garage saleing that you just can't get any other way. My favorite find, by far, is a heavy wood, gold painted, baroque, vintage setee. It is just ridiculous. AND cushioned with a gold velvet of seriously 50's hue. It has moved with me (despite being heavy as the dickens and not too comfy to boot) across 10 states and five apartments.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
What a funny story, I don't have anything nearly as exciting to share. Just stories of cheap deals!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, Please include me. My greatest salvage find was a pair of drapes that were laying over the dumpster at my apartment complex. They were lovely, but had a few water stains from leaving the windows open. I took them home, washed them in cold water, pressed them and they were just like new.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Enter me too please :)
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet, sweet fabrics! Love the combination! I see a little quilted basket in the stack of fat quarters :-) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a garage sale in ages. I can't even remember the last time I've seen a sign for one. Gosh! Sorry I don't have a better story for you...
Beautiful fabrics! I love garage sales.. I buy vintage sheets for .50 all the time! :)
ReplyDeleteI love fabric, if not kept in check I would have more fabric than clothes. My husband doesn't realize how much fabric I have had in the house at one time. Great stuff. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fabrics and they are going to be SWEET in that Baby Quilt you are making. Mmmmmm! My best garage sale find was an old fashioned desk, well like I had in school with the chair attached and the desk surface lifted up. I think it was $3. My kids had so much fun with that.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention - I used to live in Redmond!! The desk I got at a garage sale up on the plateau (which is now Sammamish). :D
ReplyDeleteMy best garage sale find was a whole box of white and cream threads. All new. Didn't buy thread for a couple years for quilting.
ReplyDeleteSign me up please.
Please enter me in your drawing--great stuff! I don't really have the time and patience for garage sales, but I absolutely LOVE thrift stores and I make the rounds of all the stores in the Sacramento area on a fairly regular basis. Gee, I couldn't really say what my BEST find has been--I love them all!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric combo. I think my best thrift store find was a bread maker. I love baking my own bread, but it is sooo much easier with the bread maker...and only $5!
ReplyDeleteYour story made me laugh - i got a wood dresser off of freecycle once, and when I went to pick it up, at 10:30 am, there were a bunch of twenty-somethings drinking beer and I could smell a little herbal "something" in the air. Live and let live, so they helped me load it up, I got home, and the top drawer was still full of stuff - including - you guessed it - "tobacco" smoking paraphenalia! The best part is, I got an email saying "I think I left some personal things in it"!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, thanks for the laugh and the chance to win!
my best garage sale find was a fondu pot. i had tons of college parties with my olive green fondu pot that cost me a dollar.
ReplyDeleteMy best find was the full box of fabric. I am still looking for another one of those.
ReplyDeleteFunny story! I don't have anything like that to share though.
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics are adorable! Thanks for a chance to win! :)
hootie364@gmail.com
The fabrics are beautiful, thanks for the giveaway! Good story too!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite finds are vintage buttons. I just can't get enough of them
ReplyDeleteI have been spoiled by Bulk Garbage day in my town. Our most recent favorite: a waffle maker! I forgot how good waffles are -- especially if you use an overnight waffle recipe. So tasty.
ReplyDeleteOther fun finds: ball jars for canning, a sewing machine (in great condition), and a bunch of solid wood chairs.
Thanks for adding me to your drawing!
love the bundles would love to win! I let my FIL do the saling oh what finds I'm given as hes 87!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics and I love garage sale-ing too. My best, and perhaps most random, find was a Clay Aiken bobble head doll. For a quarter, it was a big hit as part of my best friend's Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a great giveaway - Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love love love your zig zag quilt! I've got a top that needs finishing - I think I'll mimic your quilting style. Hope you don't mind :)
ReplyDeleteFave garage sale find: 7 HUGE boxes of name brand clothing for $20 (lady gained weight after having babies and just wanted the stuff GONE). I sold it all on eBay for an absurd amount of money.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Love to win your giveaway - beautiful colors! My favorite garage sale prize was a big box of fabric for $5 - included trims, wonder under and all sorts of fabrics that I have used over the years to make my girls costumes, doll quilts and doll clothes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thrift store is Thrift Town, Austin TX!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really gotten into yard sales or thrift stores. I have several here in town that I really want to go look through tho!
That is a hilarious story. My favorite finds at a yard sale weren't a particularly great value, but I LOVE them. They are dark-dark forest green square vases, made in the USA more than 50 years ago. $15 wasn't bad for the pair as far as their value goes, but still not a steal. But did I mention I LOVE them??
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric!
ReplyDeleteWe bought our kitchen table on a yardsale. We were young graduate students and fell in love with an old table from the 1930s - all blue, turquois, yellow enamel. We still have it and love. It came with 4 solid wood chairs for $40!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I just went to the best garage sale! The house was all retro 60s style. i got this great green sunshine clock that I adore! I am not big on 60s-70s stuff, usually, but this was so cute I had to have it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite find was a a table cloth that I used to recover a desk chair and make a bag for the wall near the desk. You can see what I'm talking about here:
ReplyDeletehttp://emilyinthedesert.blogspot.com/2009/04/happy-earth-day.html
Great prize!! I'd love to get my hands on one of those pretty sets! My favorite garage sale find was actually made by my mother... she called me up one Saturday morning and said she thought she'd gotten a really good deal... she bought a box, maybe 2"X7"X20, full to the brim with knitting needles and crochet hooks. There were double pointed sets, and circulars, and afghan hooks... all sorts of sizes. She paid $2! And she doesn't do any needlecrafts so it was all mine!! That box has saved me so much money over the years!! I finally got rid of the box after sewing myself up a really huge needle keeper... much easier to know what I've got now!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! My best find was about 15lbs of vintage buttons that I got for next to nothing.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the fabrics and Love to yard sale I have got tons of clothes for my daughter over the years.
What lovely fabric. Thank you for the chance to win your givaway. My thrift sale story isn't actual mine. but one of my quilt bee friends found a brand new Janome Jem at the Goodwill for $25...All the attachments were still in the plastic. She loves her little machine and brings it with to the bee and always telling how the Lord let her find the machine.
ReplyDeleteWonderful fabrics! One of my favorite finds is a gorgeous smoky purple king sized top sheet (brand new) that I got for $2. I'm planning to make skirts for my girls and I from it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite garage sale find was FREE...It was a picnic table with bench, not like the ones in the parks now, it was an old round one. Made out of plexiglass or something like that. It was huge and heavy and my husband was less than impressed with having to come pick it up-which it didn't fit in the truck. My friend needed something like that at her ranch, so it now resides with the ponies. =)
ReplyDeleteWonderful fabrics! My happiest garage sale find was an iron bakers rack for $20! Thank you for doing this give away!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite garage store and thrift store finds are vintage pillow cases and sheets. I love those to sew things out of! Thanks for this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics! Ikea is wonderful:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thrift store find was a pair of overalls that had $5 in the pocket! I got paid to buy them:)

my fav garage sale find was just this weekend: i got a great new carpet for the livingroom --- its huge! $20 for a $300 like-new rug! Yay for rich ppl "changing thier colors" lol!!!
ReplyDeleteNot a yard sale, but we did buy our dining room table for $5 at an auction. That pretty much ruined auctions for us after that b/c we always said "We can't pay $8/$10/whatever for THAT when we only paid $5 for our table!"

Those fabrics are just great! I would love to have them. I have a few great finds at yard sales. The first is my tea kettle which is coabolt blue and my favorite kitchen item. Second is a set of canisters that are old and say Flour, Sugar, Tea, and Coffee on them. I have had them for years.. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove those fabrics! I love scouring garage sales! Now that I have little ones, my favorite finds are second-hand toys and clothes. We picked up a barely used cozy coupe for 3 dollars once and it's a favorite around here! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteNice fabric!
ReplyDeleteLet's see.... got some cool vintage fabric at a estate sale. Covered in dust but beautiful when washed.
My best garage sale find was in my friend's garage...I stopped by to help her get her things organized when her husband came home with an entertainment set strapped to the top of his van. He was planning on selling it for two hundred dollars but when he saw that I was interested, he gave it to me for free! Thanks for the chance to win some fabric!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Thanks for offering it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite garage sale find is vintage sheets, I love finding them as well as embroidered linens.
I love yard sales! I mostly get deals on toys/clothes from my kids at them - here's a post on my best find yet:

My favorite thrift store purchase is a very bright green bookshelf that now holds my childrens' books. They love it!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's see my most memorable garage sale. Well it would have to be the one I found yards and yards of fun fabric. I had not yet started sewing but wanted to so badly. I ended up buying a bunch of this girl's fabric. She ended up being my best friend and she taught me some tips and tricks to sewing! And now I'm hooked!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sale was a tea house that was closing its doors (sad!) but I made out like a bandit with all sorts of beautiful tea cups, napkins, and little dishes. I still use them. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely giveaway! Pink fabric, how could I resist? Thanks for the chance to win! :)
I love these fabrics. My favorite garage sale find was a king size blanket that we had been needed for our bed. I got it for $5 and it was brand new!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage!! Awesome giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics! I just scored a really great deal on basically new cloth diapers from a mama that hardly used them. woohoo!
ReplyDeleteThrifting for men's dress shirts to make into girls dresses is SO fun! The possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!

Great giveaway! I went with my husband to an estate sale once and got the best item we've gotten so far...in an odd way. A table saw...yep. BUT my husband makes me furniture and other nifty stuff so all the world is right (except for the fact I've lost my garage).
ReplyDeleteI'm no good with garage sales or thrift stores, as I just don't have the patience to scour the racks and tables for something good. I do love the fabric, though!
ReplyDeleteI love going to the flea market! I once bought a whole set of knitting needles (every size you can imagine) for next to nothing.
ReplyDeleteWow, such beautiful fabrics! Would love to win them! Thanks for the chance to win!
(Although I live in Israel, I do have an address in the states. I hope my entry can count).
thanks for the chance to win! great giveaway!
I love thrifted sheets! The best find I made was on "1/2 off housewares day" at my local salvation army. It was a Raggedy Ann and Andy sheet - maybe full size. For $1.50 which made it $0.75. I have plans to make matching dresses for my baby (10mos) and my neices (3 & 8) for our family trip this summer!

My favorite garage sale find was a little scooter/walker for my son. I had been thinking about buying one, and then a perfectly good one showed up at yard sale for a super good deal. LOVE it when that happens!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite garage sale find was a jadite pitcher for $3. I almost felt guilty over that, almost!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite find wasn't really at a garage sale. My great aunt was moving from Maine to Florida and basically told all her family to come to her little trailer and take what they wanted, she wasn't bringing anything with her. I got a few buttons and sewing items, but the best find was a 8" glass pie plate. Pyrex doesn't make 8" pie plates anymore, and you can pay quite a few dollars for a nice one on ebay sometimes! When my mom saw it she said, "put it in your bag, quick, you don't want her to know how special it is or she might ask for it back!" I still have my 8" pie plate and I love it! Thanks very much for the chance at your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric! Sadly I work weekends and never manage to go to garage sales....maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteFavorite garagesale find: Sunbonnet Sue quilt blocks from the 40's. Thanks for participating in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOkay--definitely don't have a story to top yours! But I love your giveaway; thanks for the entry!
ReplyDeleteI also love yards sales, my most interesting find was an antique china set worth $1000s and I got it for only $15. I had no idea it was worth anything till after I had it at home and someone else saw it at my house and got all excited about it.
ReplyDeleteI really like your give away and would love to win.
Please enter me! I don't have a great story but I do love to visit garage sales and thrift stores!
ReplyDeleteI love the patterns in the sheeting!
ReplyDeleteMy best yard sale find was a little ride-on car for my boy. I only paid 25 cents for it and it was worth every penny and more! I love it when I find jars of buttons or vintage trims and other pretty things, too.
Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI didn't buy this...but I saw a toilet at a garage sale. Not a new one. An old, WOODEN toilet.
I just love my thrift store called Unique. My favorite find was a beautiful dollhouse bookshelf for $1. Sad thing was I couldn't get it in my car. lol I had my dad come to help me get creative in pushing it in the car in an awkward position since I have 2 carseats in the back.
ReplyDeleteBeen thrifting and garage saleing for many years. Love to find pretty tea cups. Recently found some embroidered vintage linens for just a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful fabrics.
